Wellness

Wellness is a priority at The Swiss Colony, where we try to keep our appetites for scrumptious petits fours in check with fitness programs that encourage good health for our co-workers and company.  Several studies demonstrate the heavy impact of employees’ health on companies.  Employee wellness directly influences health care costs, disability, workers’ compensation, productivity, turnover, morale and much more.  We are fortunate to have a company that recognizes the importance of healthy lifestyle choices and supports the Wellness Works program.

Wellness Works offers a wide-range of programs that motivate and reimburse regular employees for healthy lifestyle choices.

Road Map to Wellness

In April 2005, employees took off on a 365-day, virtual walk to twelve Swiss Colony locations with the use of a pedometer and walking journal.  Along the journey, employees received up to five achievement awards based on the individual’s cumulative steps.  The program was based on employees averaging at least 5,000 steps per day.

Due to the program's huge sucess, we continue to offer achievement awards based on the individual's cumulative steps. Starting in 2006, we "stepped up" the program to provide incentives based on an average of 6,000 steps per day.

Biggest Loser

Wellness Works Biggest Loser (January – May) - Individual weight loss challenge that offered incentives for employees who lost at least 5% of their beginning weight.  Program provided participation awards, random wellness drawings, and 8 weeks of educational materials.
